Kreuz für die Stiftskirche Quedlinburg

2006, Aluminium, teilvergoldet, 300x160x60 cm Das Prinzip, Skulptur als Synthese aus Plastik und Raum zu verstehen, gilt in besonderer Weise auch für das Kreuz für die Stiftskirche St. Servatius. Es ging nicht nur um die Verschmelzung von Kreuz und Korpus, sondern auch um eine mit dem umschriebenen Raum, welcher das eigentliche Zentrum bildet. Die Vielschichtigkeit möglicher Deutungen und meditativer Projektionen schien an diesem Ort besonders wichtig, da es sich um ein Gotteshaus und eine vielbesuchte Touristenkirche handelt. Es ist keine gedanklich statische und festgefügte Darstellung, sondern die Idee hat etwas Dynamisches und lässt auch andere Sichtweisen zu.

2006 The principle of perceiving sculpturing as a synthesis of sculpture and space is especially true for the rood of the St. Servatius Collegiate Church. The point was not only the fusion of cross and corpus, but also that with the surrounding space, which is the actual centre of the sculpture.The variety of possible interpretations and ruminant projections seemed of great importance to this well-attended church. Thus, it‘s not a mentally static and firmly established presentation, but a rather dynamic idea that also allows a lot of different perspectives.
